The second X4 sits on the G01 X3's platform, from B48 and B47 four-cylinders to the B58 M40i and B57 M40d sixes. Fundamentally robust cars — the value is in staying ahead of a few known checkpoints.

The original X4 is based on the F25 X3 — xDrive20d diesels, the N57 30d six and the N55 35i, all xDrive. Higher-mileage cars now, where a thorough inspection pays for itself.
